How To Buy A White Down Comforter

If you are in the market for a white down comforter, it is a good idea to learn all can about the comforter before you make a purchase. A quality one does not come cheap, but if you know how to choose well, it will last you a very long time. Read on to discover what to look for in a white down comforter.

The first thing that you need to know before buying a down comforter is fill power. Fill power is the amount of space in one ounce of down. This is determined by taking an ounce of down and compressing it. When released, the amount of space that it fills up as it expands is measured in cubic inches.

So when shopping for a comforter and you see a fill power of 575, this means that the down fills 575 cubic inches of space. The higher the fill power, the higher quality of down. Any comforter over 650 is considered luxury quality.

When looking at the contents of the comforter, you may want to try to find goose down instead of duck down. Goose down from mature geese that live in a very cold climate is the best because it forms bigger clusters to trap more body heat. So if you want a comforter that will keep you toasty warm on those cold winter nights, look for this type of down in your white down comforter.

Thread count is important also. Thread count is calculated by the amount of threads woven per square inch. The finer the threads, the higher the thread count. It usually starts at 200 threads per inch and goes up from there. The higher the thread count, the more breathable for the fabric becomes. A higher thread count also results in lighter and smoother fabric.

To find a white down comforter that will not leak out, you need to search for a cotton cambric down proof fabric. This fabric is down proofed by a process that compresses the fabric between two giant steel rollers. This compression will fill in small spaces that are not visible to the human eye.

The best down proof fabric comes from Germany or Switzerland. A good down comforter with a thread count over 300 and made from this fabric will last 10 to 15 years with normal use. So although these may cost a little more, you will get years of wear out of them.

So there you have the basics of what to look for when buying a white down comforter. If you want quality that will last several years, be prepared to pay for it. But the investment will be worth it in the long run.

Since kids tend to start and end the day in the bathroom, giving it a "good vibe" is important. Bright colors and fun touches will help them start and end the day with a smile. But decorating a child's bathroom isn't all about fun, you want it to be functional, too. Making it easy for your kids to keep their bathroom tidy is an added bonus.

Since most bathroom spaces are small, save the murals for the kids' bedrooms. A lively shade is all that's needed to bring bathroom walls to life. Naturally, if you're going with a theme, it will dictate the color you choose. For example, turquoise is a perfect fit for an underwater scheme, a sky fantasy bathroom might have walls painted robin's egg blue, and a soft green makes the perfect backdrop for a jungle-themed bathroom. Stencils and vinyl decals let you add character to the walls, while a peppy-printed shower curtain pulls the whole look together.

If the bath/shower enclosure is glass enclosed, you can pep it up with vinyl window decals in fun designs. Be sure to use the type that adheres by static cling instead of adhesive. Otherwise, you'll spend a lot of time scraping old adhesive off the glass when your child outgrows the pattern. Another fun way to decorate a glass shower or bathtub door is to let your child design her own window "stickies" with a craft kit you can purchase at most toy or craft stores. Kids squeeze a gel out of a bottle and onto a piece of parchment type paper. It dries into a soft, rubbery type of plastic that clings to glass surfaces. Kids love both the creativity as well as taking part in decorating "their" bathroom.

Don't forget to add safety to your design list. Whether you choose a rubber bath mat or non-slip adhesive decals, make sure the bottom of the tub or shower your child will use has a bottom covering that provides traction. Make those decals or bath mats a bright color, and you'll draw your child's attention as he steps in, subtly developing a safety habit of looking where you step. Be sure, too, that any throw rugs on the floor outside the tub have a non-slip backing to keep kids from falling and hitting their heads on the tub. In addition, big, knobby clothes hooks will cause less head pain when bumped than pointed hooks. And, if you are adding a step stool to help little ones reach the faucet, be sure the bottom is equipped with non-skid rubber footings.

How To Clean Marble

Marble differs from most other stones because it is extremely porous. In other words, it allows dirt and stains to set in and be retained far more easily than denser stone. Also for this reason, it cannot withstand most conventional cleaning mediums – especially harsh detergents and acids.

Remember that marble has a slightly unstable chemistry and is quite delicate. Calcium carbonate (which is what marble basically consists of) will immediately and dramatically react with any kind of acid, resulting in pitting and scarring.

The best way of maintaining marble’s overall cleanliness is with lukewarm water, a soft cloth and an occasional wipe down with a mild, non-abrasive detergent. The marble should be thoroughly wiped dry after such cleaning. If you like, a light coat of wax can be applied for further protection, but this is entirely optional, since marble will not gain additional luster from wax the way wood does.

The only safe way of tackling stains (blood, tea, coffee etc.) on marble is by gently soaking them off. To do this, any kind of absorbent material such as blotting paper or facial tissue can be lightly soaked in water and 20% hydrogen peroxide, placed over the stain and left there for several hours. The stain should wipe off easily after this treatment. Rust stains are best removed with regular rust removers; however, marble should not be exposed to them longer than strictly necessary.

Marble does tend to fade with the passage of time. This does not necessarily detract from its innate beauty. However, the luster of faded marble – especially on domestic home floors – can be effectively rejuvenated. There are specialty cleaning agents such as tin dioxide available at most leading housekeeping stores. Used as manual polish or in combination with an electric floor polisher, these work wonders in freshening up the lost shine of marble.

Keeping your marble in top condition is easy with a little care: it may be maintained with soft, conventional cleaning products; stains can be removed with hydrogen peroxide and it may even be polished to keep it looking new.

Decorating a nursery can be stressful and require a lot of planning. A simple goal can be aiming to create a funky, fun atmosphere with key furniture pieces and fabric designs that tie together design and education. Babies respond positively to bold, bright colors and surrounding them with constant brain stimuli is a way to peak their curiosity from a very young age.

Consider a bright color scheme with a crib and bureau to match. For a little extra flavor try retro pieces that can be sanded and repainted allowing you to choose your own relevant colors. Also, do not hesitate to purchase bureaus, changing tables and racks from thrift stores as long as you ensure the quality both by personal inspection and checking for any recalls on pieces that might cause a hazard.

A neutral carpet can be appropriate for a baby's room, but accent area rugs are also a decorative option. Putting a rug in the main section of the room will protect it from traffic and accidents. Pick a color that complements your selected furniture pieces and has a busy pattern so it will wear well. Area rugs can be easily cleaned, moved and replaced to fit various schemes as the room transforms through the years.

Curtains are often an overlooked design element in a baby's room. Use curtains that allow light to shine through, but also provide an element of privacy. As children get older, most do not like to have a skewed view through a window and can adore peering outside. Using a sheer fabric with an opaque underlay can allow light to come in and privacy when needed. The underlay can add color and style so make the most of your fabric choice and texture.

Other elements and accent pieces to consider that can add fun and funk include:

• Lampshades- lampshades can be functional by assisting with appropriate lighting

• Quilts- quilts can be personalized and used as a covering and not necessarily for sleeping

• Cushions- cushions can be placed on rocking chairs, window seats or changing tables and can coordinate with other fabrics in the room

• Bedding- keep the sheets neutral, but add colorful pillow cases and throw blankets

One last element - Personalize the room while peaking the baby's interest by displaying photographs of family members and cartoon characters to develop their recognition skills. Placing them on the wall where they can be viewed from the crib is great so as they age they will see the photos in clear view when they are old enough to stand. Using home photographs in a collage or a series of framed images in color, black and white or sepia are great choices. Adding a variety of images and changing often can be a great way to "spice it up" as the photos get older while the baby grows and develops.

When planning to decorate a baby's room, home decor blogs and kid furniture sites also offer helpful and diverse information with plenty of free ideas and tips. Now get cracking and make your family's new addition a room that is fun, unique and educational!

Summer is here. Warm weather, sunny days, and being outdoors is more appealing than ever. But busy schedules and even extreme temperatures can prevent us from being outside as much as we want. One popular solution: bring the outdoors in to your home! Here's how:

Broaden Your Horizons

If you can't be outside, you can recreate comfort and beauty of the great outdoors right inside your home. The key? Your view to the outside world - in the form of your windows.

Don't hide your scenery with closed, heavy drapes. Instead, keep your view open by choosing window treatments that accentuate your view, instead of hiding it. Wood blinds with wider slats or specialty shapes offer just that - expanded view-through when the slats are open, so you can easily welcome the sights of summer into your home.

Take Cues from Nature's Hues

Trend watchers say that earth tones of browns, greens, and neutrals are going to be a hit for the summer. They are reminiscent of Mother Nature in her simplest state, and have a calming effect during the hustle and bustle of summer.

Fabrics and Finishes

Light, sheer fabrics are critical to capturing the flavor of summer. They'll let the sun flow in and light colors serve as a reflector, illuminating the rooms of your home. Try sheer horizontal window shadings, or even a soft drapery sheer, to give your home the soft feel of the breezy outdoors.

And your home can look like the outdoors, too, if you choose to use natural-looking materials like granite, stone, and wood. Try "faux wood" or wood alloy blinds that provide an array of natural-looking colors designed to mimic the feel of real wood. But these products typically offer added durability, so you can get the look of the outdoors that will last season after season!

Turning Things Inside Out

Another great way to welcome summer - transform your outdoor areas into trendy indoor ones. Instead of a simple patio table and chairs (which are also great furniture pieces), carefully plan out your outdoor "living area". Deliberately choose furniture, flooring, and framing that will define the area and make it more homey. Pay special attention to hedges and lighting to create an indoor structure that complements the naturally occurring beauty of the outdoors.

Be Earth-Conscious
With an increased focus on the brilliant lights, colors, and feel that Mother Nature herself gives to us, it's a great time to think about how we can give back. Use earth-friendly home accessories to accent your home, and participate in recycling and "Save the Environment" programs whenever you can.

Lots of people own a down comforter. They are great for staying warm on cold nights. There are three warmth levels when it comes to a down comforter: Summer, Medium and Winter. The price of these will vary depending on the content of the fill. Goose down is soft, light and can capture warmth without extra weight. This is the most common type is that most people get. There are some things that you need to know before you start looking to buy your own down comforter.

One: The down comforter can be used with or without a separate duvet cover. This is used mainly to protect them but also for looks because you can get the duvet in different colors.

Two: When you look at a down comforter you want to make sure that you examine the fill power.

Three: You want to make sure that the insulation material inside the down comforter can't be moved freely or shift on its own. So check the stitching to make sure it is good and tight.

Four: The type of fabric used and the construction are two other important areas that you need to check. This will tell you if you are getting a good quality down comforter.

Five: The most important thing you want to check is the reputation and reliability of the manufacturer as well as the store that you buy the comforter from.

When you buy yours, you will want to get a duvet cover because this will help you keep your new comforter in good shape and keep it clean. You can change the duvet cover any time that you want to so you might want to get more than one. There are a variety of styles and colors that you can choose from. Duvet covers are usually made of cotton, satin or silk, which is strong and comfortable.

These helpful tips should make it much easier for you to find the perfect down comforter for you. You want to make sure that you take the time to find out all of this information so that you will know that you are getting a quality comforter. These are not cheap so you don't want to waste your money on something that is not the real thing. Do some research to find out more about down comforters so you can get the right one the first time you shop for it.

If you are looking for a weather resistant, durable outdoor furniture, teak outdoor furniture might be just what you need. It's natural wood look makes it a perfect accessory to any outdoor room and it's relatively easy care/cleaning needs make it perfect for families who don't have a lot of extra time to worry about cleaning their outdoor furniture.

Teak comes from South East Asia and is a hardwood tree. It is a dense wood that contains a high oil content which contributes to its durability. It is best known for its use as trim and decking on boats, but it makes an awesome material for outdoor furniture as it is able to withstand the elements.

Some people choose to treat their teak furniture with oil, wax or lacquer. Other people choose to let their teak furniture weather and turn to a silver grey, which is its natural state when it is not treated. Either way is a personal preference.

If you choose to treat your teak with oils, you can use teak oil. Treating your teak furniture does not make it last longer. It is more making the furniture appear like a brand new piece of teak furniture than anything else. Teak oil should be applied at least once a year in order to maintain the "new" appearance. Many people recommend that you begin treating your furniture after a few years to prevent cracks from forming.

Before you apply oil, you need to clean the furniture with soap or water. Teak oil should never be applied over dirt or dust. Once the furniture is completely dry, you should apply a light coat of oil. Using a soft cloth is best, but a soft brush can be used as well. Wipe off all excess oil. Be sure to soak the rag or brush in water afterwards as it can pose a fire hazard otherwise.

Teak furniture that is allowed to weather naturally should be cleaned every year. Use soap and water and apply it with a soft rag. Be sure to rinse the furniture completely after washing it. You can also clean it with a pressure washer, provided that you don't use it at full pressure since that can cause damage to the furniture. In addition, teak furniture that has already been treated requires washing as needed.

It is hard to beat the durability and easy maintenance of teakwood furniture. A few hours each year is all that is required for its upkeep, which is definitely a plus since we want to spend our time outside relaxing on our furniture, not cleaning it. This feature alone makes teak furniture perfect for anyone who loves to relax in the outdoors.

DIY Wall Murals

Murals add a personal touch to the wall, more than any other wall decorative accessory. This is especially true in case of "Do It Yourself" or DIY wall murals, as they are the product of the owner's imagination and inclination.

The DIY wall murals are mainly for children. They can make these murals easily and also enjoy the process. It does not require any painting genius or experience. It involves only three main steps. These are to trace, draw an outline and then paint. They are used for decorating bedrooms, nurseries and playrooms.

However, the DIY wall murals are not restricted to children and are available in the market for people of all ages, with different levels of painting ability. They can be made into friendly, playful images or magnificent images for commercial purposes.

The DIY wall mural kits include reusable templates, transfer papers, outliners, paint guides, a storage pouch, instructions and a list of the suppliers of paints and brushes. The paints used are water based and acrylic, which makes them easy to clean. Some of the DIY wall murals also come with the DVD guides for people who desire perfection and a professional wall mural.

The DIY wall murals can be made more beautiful by blending the paints. This results in a radiant look. There are different images or the themes available in the kits, which can either be painted or used to create entirely different images. It is advisable to use motion lines, to display objects moving and glitters can be used to ensure that the key areas of focus and interest are accentuated.

The DIY wall murals are perfect to create a renewed ambience and add imagination to the home or office. They make the remodeling of a place, possible, in an easy and affordable way.

The terms Arts and Crafts and Mission Style are often used synonymously today. They refer to a style of home design and furnishings emphasizing natural materials, especially wood, and showcasing a pronounced geometry in the design. Their tremendous revival in popularity stems largely from their association with hand-crafted elements (though many knock offs are manufactured by machine), a rarity in this technologically advanced age. The pieces offer an heirloom quality and a patina that deepens with age. Arts and Crafts furnishings and interiors are also typically very durable and classic with a timeless appeal. They suit today’s desire to simplify and get back to basics. Arts and Crafts interiors are an ideal marriage of function and aesthetic, spaces are designed to work for those living there. To create your own Arts and Crafts interior, there are several elements to consider, both in materials and design.

The materials of an Arts and Crafts interior, while not limited to nature, emphasize wood, stone, glass (made from sand), ceramic tiles (made from minerals/earth), and textiles (using wool, cotton, or linen fibers, and, of course, leather) Much of the visual pattern comes from the grain of the wood selected. Traditionally oak was used, but currently natural cherry is frequently enjoyed. The oak tends to have golden brown gleam, while the cherry is redder. Both darken naturally with age, this is to be expected.

Flooring, all architectural trim/molding, doors, stair rails and stiles, and exposed structural supports are all typically wood, oak most prevalent. Waxed or oil finishes prevail. Joints are pegged or hand-crafted metal hardware is used. Door knobs, cabinet pulls and the like are again hand-crafted wrought iron or bronze in black, umber, or verdigris. Many are square or rectangular shaped and are hand hammered. For a lighter look, some homeowners today are opting for a soft brushed pewter or nickel finish. Once you have the guidelines, you can bend them to suit. If an alternative to a wood floor is desired, tile or slate would be appropriate substitutes. The tile should be large and laid in a linear pattern, not on the diagonal.

To balance and complement the visual depth of the wood, walls are often treated with a textured paint, or plastered (the old bungalows have original plaster.) A good bet is the river rock finish that Ralph Lauren paint provides. Paint schemes bear an influence from nature with goldenrod yellows, burnt sienna browns, cimarron and Indian reds, sage and moss greens, and a neutral palette of earthy tans, toasts, and beiges. The overall feeling has a harmony, a continuity of all elements working together, none upstaging the other. It is about creating an organic home, one that works within its environment and makes the most of its surroundings both outside and inside.

Fireplaces have wood or stone mantels, with stone, ceramic, or occasionally brick surrounds. The wood is oak with a golden stain, usually waxed or rubbed, not polyurethane. Satin or matte finishes rule. Stone is field stone, stacked dry or with mortar, it presents a terrific textural visual. River rock may be used instead and the round smooth stones provide a counterpoint to the rectilinear geometry otherwise present. Ceramic tiles will typically have a motif from nature, perhaps a leaf or acorn, or have an iridescent finish. Today glass tiles are also used to great advantage. Brick, when employed, is smooth faced and laid in clean horizontal bands. Again, one of the clear features of an Arts and Crafts interior is the linear quality. The feeling that the house is part of a bigger view, part of the horizon, is all an effort to be from and of the earth.

Historically, many of the Arts and Crafts and Mission homes sported art glass windows, or at least many panes. This enabled windows to be left uncovered and still appear decorative. Today, art glass windows can be cost prohibitive except in select areas, so if treatment is desired for either privacy, light, or heat control, simpler is better. This translates to options such as a plain Roman shade, silhouettes, wood blinds, or panels on either tabs or rings, on a decorative rod (wood or wrought iron), with finials. If tiebacks are desired consider sisal tassels, simple and bold, or a band of the same fabric as the drapery. No trim or other decorative element is required. Fabric patterns may herald nature, such as a leaf print, or be based in geometry. There is a wide range on the market today including historical prints by William Morris and designs by Frank Lloyd Wright. The same may also be found in wall coverings, though use them sparingly, as they are often busy and distracting. Arts and Crafts and Mission styles today both represent a desire for a wholesome, hearty lifestyle, a return to yesterday’s values.

Furnishings in the Arts and Crafts home are wood, occasionally with a wrought iron or ceramic tile accent. Glass is rarely used. Tables being functional as well as good looking, often have at least a drawer and a shelf for storage. Shapes are squares, rectangles and octagons, though today more rounds are available. Again the geometry created by edges is most apparent. Sofas and chairs are often wood backed with exposed wood arms and cushions that can be readily cleaned or changed out depending on the season. Flexibility and adaptability are prime features. Mission style goes a step further and often offers sofas or chairs with a deep wood shelf surround, acting as the arm and a table (Frank Lloyd Wright design), which gives the illusion of a built-in piece. Leather is frequently used or fabrics in natural fibers such as cotton, linen, or wool. Rich colors and geometric or patterns drawn from nature abound. The most significant interest comes from the combination of elements, again, no one piece dominating. Busy patterns are used sparingly, increasing longevity and flexibility of the furnishings. Resources for furnishings include Stickley, American Impressions by Ethan Allen, and Cotswald Furnishings, a superior resource for hand-crafted furnishings and more in Atlanta.

Lighting in an Arts and Crafts or Mission home is critical, especially with all the dark woods and depth of color schemes popular. While ceiling lights, including recessed can give a good general light, it is far more effective and pleasing to adopt a wealth of luminaries. Torchieres (floor lamps that give uplight, and are best placed in corners) can provide valuable general lighting, while table lamps and floor lamps provide invitation and welcome. Accent lighting can be done with mantel lamps, sconces, and dresser lamps. The two most common types of lamps are the mica and metal designs, the body of the lamp being hammered bronze or copper, the shade a sheet of mica; and the art glass lamps with wood or art glass bases and shades of glass in geometric patterns and a squared coolie shape. Other lighting options include a wealth of reproduction lighting through several lighting sources such as Arroyo Craftsmen, and Yamagiwa (available through designers; they also have an outstanding line of Frank Lloyd Wright designs.)

Accents, accessories, and artwork should be kept to a minimum to allow for a fuller appreciation of the architecture of the home and materials of nature showcased. This is a good chance to provide balance to the predominance of wood with elements in glass, ceramics, and metal. Both bowls and vessels are readily available in all materials mentioned here. Iridescent ware in both ceramics and glass provides an airy complement to the weight and depth of the wood.

Comforter Sets

A comforter set is usually a six-piece bedding arrangement. Six pillow cases, five sets of sheets, four designer pillows, three wool blankets, two mattresses pads and one comforter set could form a bedding comforter set.

One can choose a simple comforter set with just a duvet and a duvet cover. The luxury of a comforter set should have a duvet, duvet cover and neckrow pillow, oblong pillow, decorative pillows, pillow shams and bedskirts. It is important that one should choose a duvet and duvet cover bed comforter set that looks good.

Toile bedding comforter sets are another choice. One can go in for a high-quality, high-thread-count luxury comforter set in toile cloth. The toile comforter set is usually reversible, so that one can change the look to a solid color. Jacquard comforter sets offer colorful patterns. If the bed comforter is made of polyester fiber-fill and cotton, then it can be dry-cleaned or machine-washed.

There are down alternative comforter sets. Soft fiber such as Egyptian cotton or microfiber will pitch in for a luxurious feeling in one’s bedding comforter set, even if one is not sleeping on goosedown. The down is replaced by polyfills.

Old covered wagons did not offer protection against bad winds or dust storms. Comforters made from old blankets, quilts and goosedown were hung along the sides of covered wagons to keep out the dust and sun. A summer fill comforter is enough to keep warm throughout an Atlanta winter. And comforter sets are a thing of joy for anyone wanting a good night’s sleep.

What Makes a Good Quality Down Comforter?

The quality of a down comforter is determined by the warmth it provides, how serves to keep in your body heat, be allergy free, and make and attractive and inviting bedding. To ensure its durability, a down comforter should be used with a duvet cover. Not only will this protect the down from dirt and impurities, it will allow you to introduce change, color and style into your bedroom.

There are three key elements to look for when choosing a down comforter:

FILL POWER. is amount space, in cubic inches, that one ounce of down fills. The higher the fill power, the higher the quality and warmth of the down. Good comforters normally start out at 575 fill power. Better comforters are 650 fill power and higher. Fill power is also what gives down comforters its loft.

THREAD COUNT. The higher the thread count, the lighter, more breathable the fabric, the smoother it is to the touch and finer the threads. Thread counts usually start at 200 threads per inch and go up.

BAFFLED CONSTRUCTION. A baffled comforter has a vertical wall of fabric joining the upper and lower portions of the shell. Baffles allow the down in your comforter to assume its fullest loft. The higher quality comforters are made with baffles. The baffle also allows the down to expand to its fullest loft.

Down comforters and feather-filled products are packed tightly during shipping. Upon receipt remove them from their packaging, fluff gently, and allow several hours to recover their full loft. In addition, being sealed in plastic packaging sometimes causes the scent of these natural down comforters to concentrate. A few hours of airing is required.

By now, you have probably heard of stretch slipcovers. If not, you are probably living in a cave or something. Seriously, slip covers are a man's best friend in terms of protecting his furniture like chairs, couches, pillows, etc.

Way back before, you would worry all the time about your sofa being so dirty, hairy and dusty probably because of your children or your pets. You would spend tons of dollars for cleaning bills and all the upholstering. To tell you frankly, those are the days. Now, you can actually say goodbye to expensive bills and say hello to all the money you can save for something else.

You can have guests over now without having the doubts that your chairs might smell bad from sweat or that it might be stained once alcohol gets into your guest's system. Seat cover ups does that amazingly for you. After the party, you can simply remove the seat cover ups so that your kids or pets can roam around your chairs again freely. You can also put it in if you want so that they won't be able to destroy the furniture completely.

If you are wondering where to get these seat cover ups, it is recommended to check it online. Before you buy your seat cover ups, you have to check first the designs, shapes and sizes. You might also want to look at your chairs because there are certain chairs that have weird stuffing at the back. However, if your seats are regular or normal, you shouldn't worry a bit because these are stretch slipcovers. The fabric is especially made to fit your furniture without the lumps, bumps and wrinkles.

Once you have decided what to get, you can check out local stores near your place. If you are on a tight budget, wait for the seasonal sales. Seasonal sales happen every so often because new stocks are coming in and they are getting rid of the old ones.

Another place wherein you might want to check are selling or auctioning websites. These websites offer practical prices with items that are really still in good condition if they are second hand. There is also a chance that brand new ones will be up for sale.

There are several world renowned wood stove manufacturers that make a wide range of quality products. Some companies specialize in making traditional wood stoves while other make cutting edge stoves with new and technologically advanced features. Some major wood stove manufacturers are Country Flame, Morso, and Krog Iversen.

Country Flame has been making wood stoves since 1978. This Missouri based company makes a wide range of products including wood stoves, fireplaces, furnaces, and fireplace inserts. Country Flame introduced their wood stove as an economical option heating option for people who were hit hard by the recession. Now, Country Flame is on the cutting edge of wood stove manufacturers, winning the prestigious Vesta award in 2002 at the National HPBA Show.

The Danish company Morso has been a major wood stove manufacturer since 1853. Morso started off making fine cast iron wood stoves for people all over the world, and continue that tradition to day. Now, not only do Morso make some of the best traditional cast iron wood stoves on the market, they are also innovators, constantly coming up with new and original designs to appeal to buyers with a more modern taste. Some new designs look almost like artistically designed television sets. These models feature sleek, shiny iron construction and use the most advanced technology to distribute their warmth.

Another Danish company called Krog Iversen also makes world-class wood stoves. Krog Iversen was started in 1978 during the worldwide oil crisis. Founder Henning Krog Iversen realized that there was a great demand for heating systems that used fuels other than oil. He thought that traditional wood stoves would provide a good alternative to other expensive and inefficient heating systems. His idea paid off, and Krog Iversen is now a respected wood stove manufacturer, exporting its products to countries around the world.

There are countless other wood stove manufacturers around the world. With wood stoves providing economical and efficient heating, it is likely that demand will continue to increase, making room in the market for even more wood stove manufacturers.

All it takes is some creativity and a little bit of shopping. It doesn't even have to cost a lot to transform a ho-hum bedroom into a little girl's dream land fantasy world. This is the time to let out your own little inner kid and have some fun!

The fairytale concept covers alot of themes, from castles, princesses, knights and dragons, to fairies with lots of glitter and lace (of course), so the first step is to figure out what your little girl would really enjoy. That's an easy one to figure out...just ask!

ZZ Designs is a pretty popular bedding designer that you may have heard of- they offer several selections you may want to consider.

Placed over a white bed skirt with white frilly or billowing drapes, this choice of 100% cotton can begin your dream bedroom design.

The color scheme of the bedding includes white, pink, lavender, and purple. You can even add a canopy for her bed with 10 yards of shimmery fabric to really finish off look. Just put a nice stable hook in the ceiling at the center of her bed and then let the fabric halves hang and billow from the center down, and attach toward all the corners of the bed. There are other more detailed instructions for creating your own canopy type effects, just type it in to your browser! Pretty nifty!

Another ZZ Designs selection you'll want to check out is called A Little Sugar and Spice. Shades of pink vary from very light to a more dark pink. The 100% cotton quilt features bows, hearts, butterflies and flowers. Each pillow sham features three beautiful hearts. This set is available up to queen size.

The lamp is operated by a pull chain which features a glow in the dark quarter moon to make the lamp easy to find in the dark.

This is a thoughtful choice for any little girl's fantasy bedroom. It's often difficult to teach children to sleep alone in the dark but the comforting presence of the shining moon can be used to comfort her that SHE is in control and can get to the light easily if she wakes up frightened or has a bad dream.

A beautiful touch for a bedroom with few windows but a lot of wall space is That's My Room's Castle Window Mural. It creates the feel of a stone arch window facing toward another beautiful castle in the distance. How to Make Over a Teenage Boy's Bedroom

When it comes to a teenage boy bedroom makeover it's important to consider the kind of bedroom decor which appeals to you most. Give some thought to not only paint colors, wall treatments, wall art and bedding but things like furniture and shelving as well.

Any teenage boy bedroom makeover should be a reflection of you and your unique personality.

Consider painting one wall an intense red or orange, or a deep blue or green and then use a toned downed shade of the same or contrasting color to paint the remaining walls. Wood stained or painted furniture in a dark shade can then be incorporated along with white or off white trim to lighten things up.

When it comes to a theme for teenage boy bedroom consider reusable wall murals. Wall murals come in a variety of themes like team sports, surfing and snowboarding. Any wall mural art you select should be able to stand the test of time, that way you won't find yourself having to redo your room within a year or two.

If you're into team sports and have a lot of trophies or similarly enjoy collecting things you may want to incorporate a good selection of shelving. Also consider your current and future storage needs. An adjustable wall unit is one of your best investments.

When it comes to bedding for a teenage boy bedroom it's always wise to pick up colors from elsewhere in your bedroom and/or go with the same type of theme as you have in your mural or in select items of wall art.

As you can see, a teenage boy bedroom makeover involves many different color and design elements. You're wise to shop around prior to making any purchases (unless of course, you know you can take it back and get a full refund).

Sometimes all you really need is a little inspiration and once you've found it, your teenage boy bedroom project will quickly come together. I personally believe there's great inspiration in favorite colors, bedding sets, and wall murals. Once you find something you like the next step is to take a color or two from it and then try to match up accessory items.

So you bought a new house. You love everything about it except for the ugly wallpaper borders in almost every room. Time to get them off the wall. Removing wallpaper borders is not an easy task, but with a few good tips and some elbow grease, you can get the job done.

The best way to remove the wallpaper border depends on what type of wallpaper was used, what type of surface it was glued on and what type of adhesive was used. One of the easiest things you can try is to use a hair dryer to heat the wallpaper border which may loosen the adhesive enough to let you peel it off.

Usually if the border has been glued to wallpaper, it will come off fairly easy. Slightly mist it down and use a plastic scraper to remove it from the wall. If the wallpaper border has a vinyl covering that won’t let the water or any commercial wallpaper remover soak through, use a perforation tool over the entire surface of the border to allow it to soak in.

If the wallpaper border has been glued directly onto a painted wall, use warm water and some commercially available wallpaper remover and give it plenty of time to soak in before you try to scrap it off.

Steaming also works well for removing wallpaper borders. Steam the entire surface of the wallpaper border. Start from the bottom to the topmost part in sections. If the adhesive is very strong, steam the boarder twice or more until the wallpaper boarder starts to loosen from the wall. Use a plastic or soft metal scraper to avoid damaging the wall. Scrape the border off the wall working from the bottom up. Use warm water and a clean sponge to remove any remaining adhesive from the wall.

Instead of using a commercially available wallpaper stripper, you can also use a mixture of fabric softener and water. Mix 1 capful of fabric softener with 1 quart of water. Pour it in a spray bottle and spray it right on the wallpaper border. For very strong adhesives, you can also use a sponge and soak the boarder with pure fabric softener.

Another “homemade” option is vinegar. Mix water and vinegar and pray it on, or use an old paint roller and roll it right on the wallpaper boarder. The stronger the wallpaper adhesive seems to be, the more vinegar you should use. Use the vinegar option as a last resort, since it will smell pretty strongly for a few days. Wipe the walls down with a damp rag after you removed the wallpaper boarder to get as much of the vinegar as possible off your wall.

Christmas is a busy time of the year and it can be a struggle remembering everything you should stock up on, especially if you are panicking about having guests over to stay in your home. This article is a brief diary of all the things I have forgotten over the years and should really have remembered. Hopefully it will be useful to you this Christmas as you prepare for your friends and family to stay with you.

Clean Duvet Cover
This may sound a bit disgusting but I always forget to change the duvet cover in my guest room, which means it has usually been sitting there unmoved for a couple of months before Christmas. Buying a new duvet cover comes in handy as you can give your guests the pleasant experience of sleeping in a crisp bed and then use it throughout the year whenever people come to stay. Duvet covers are not too expensive so it is a small cost for making your home more comfortable for any visitors you have.

Toothpaste And Toilet Roll
Remembering what to pack for your annual family Christmas is hard when you are thinking about presents and parties. Toothpaste often gets left behind and it is common for homes to run out of the white stuff over the holiday season, so make sure you stock up before your guests arrive. The same should be said for toilet roll and soap. No one wants to get to Christmas morning and find that they have half a roll of toilet paper left to be used by 10 people for the next two days!

Pain Relief
The excitement of Christmas can all be a little too much for some people and regular holiday illnesses include headaches and stomach pain because of all the turkey sandwiches. Stocking up on paracetamol, indigestion tablets and ibuprofen is a good idea so that you can ease the discomfort of any of your guests or yourself! Just make sure you keep them out of the reach of children.

Having clean duvet cover sets on all your beds and stocking up on the essential supplies is important at Christmas but many of us are too worried about whether the turkey is big enough or are looking for a present for Aunty Linda at half past four on Christmas Eve that we forget all about them. Keep this article handy in the days coming up to the festive season and you won't be caught out.

The Versatility Duvet Covers in a Bedroom

A Duvet Cover is like a large enclosed bed sheet cover which slips around a comforter. It helps keep your bed comforter clean, protects from being worn out and lasts longer. The duvet can be taken off and washed more easily than the comforter itself. It is also an easy way to alter the decoration of a room without purchasing a new comforter. Without a duvet cover there will be more frequent washings and cause the comforter to break down quickly. As a result, duvets are very versatile items of bedroom accessories.

They can provide you with heavyweight warmth during colder months and, with a simple change, can be your lightweight cover for warmer nights. To get the most use and greatest convenience from your duvet cover, you will should use least two comforter weights that will fit inside your duvet cover.

What this allows you to do is to keep the same look to your bedroom in winter and summer by exchanging a lighter weight comforter for a heavier comforter when it gets cold. This is especially practical for more expensive down comforters. In addition, if you want to change the look of your room, you can use one duvet and purchase multiple duvet covers in varying styles, patterns and materials. Duvet covers come in as many styles, designs, and fabrics as down comforters for example. They are available in everything from Damask to Egyptian cotton, Denim and Satin. They can be embroidered, patchwork, have a country look, or city sophisticate.

Duvet Dollars was released only a couple of weeks ago and has attracted a surprisingly large following amongst affiliates. Duvet Dollars is written by a lady called Victoria, in which she pertains to reveal her “Secrets”, pun intended.

After going through duvet dollars high octane sales letter, I was ready to make a purchase despite the name (which I think you’ll agree is a bit silly).

Affiliate marketing education, much like any specialized knowledge is very much like a pyramid. The bulk of the information, found at the bottom of the pyramid, is readily available on forums, blogs and sites.

Once you start putting that knowledge to good use and the profits follow, you of course end up thirsting for the higher spheres of information. This information is rare as the oxygen atop Mount Everest. On the other hand, it is a rewarding quest since, in these higher levels, the smallest tidbit of information can act as a lever that makes every campaign you run more profitable.

Thus it was that Duvet Dollars, with its well written sales letter, captivated my imagination and had me salivating for a morsel of obscure truth or arcane affiliate science.

I bought the book on March 11th and read it immediately.

Unfortunately, I was soon disappointed to see the ebook contained more fluff than the proverbial goose down duvet cover. As I continued wading through its pages, my unsatisfied appetite continued to grow and my stomach rumbled for something of sustenance.

Alas it was not to be found in the main manual of Duvet Dollars. The ebook did however redeem itself of its shortcomings by providing several bonus chapters.

This was where the real meat of the matter was to be found. If these bonus chapters should indeed have been tagged as extras and not inserted directly into the guide itself is a good question up for debate. The only thing that does seem certain is this ebook follows a pattern surprisingly similar to that of Chris McNeeney’s Adwords Miracle, a manual I would not hesitate to recommend.

In the interest of fairness, Duvet Dollars is not a bad manual. In fact the new comer to the wide and profitable world of affiliate marketing would undoubtedly be getting his money’s worth. There not lies the trouble with this well written guide.

Rather it is that Duvet Dollars does not stand tall in comparison to other guides that compete for the same reader.

In the author’s humble opinion, a guide such as Affiliate Project X would be apt to provide more value and insight than would Duvet Dollars.

Sadly, it appears that the new book does not go beyond its predecessors and even offers less value than the originals, like the tired sequels that attract followers from the recognition and fame gained by the pioneer.

Everyone wants their kids room to look great, but as with everything in life there is more to consider than just the look.

I have two boys and they have taught me more about kids than any book ever could.

1. Practical - Firstly it is worth remembering that most colored fabrics can only be washed at thirty degrees and usually you cannot use stain remover on them.

So, if your child never has food or drink in their room maybe you think that the bedding won't get that dirty? I had one awful week where between my sons they managed to have a nosebleed, vomit and wet the bed. These are all symptoms of high fevers, so totally unavoidable.

2. Attractive - During the day you may rarely have time to consider the design of your kids bedding, but when you check in on them at night, you want to see them sleeping soundly in a beautiful calm which they deserve after an active day. At these times you may not want to see spider man or a dalek looking back at you!

3. Affordable - When they get a nosebleed and it leaves a stain, you don't want to be angry that your beautiful bed linen is stained. Or when they leave a pen to leak on it you want to discipline them for not putting the pens away, not for ruining the bed linen. If they don't mind that there is a stain on their duvet cover they probably won't understand why it is bothering you so much.

If your child is still at the age when they wet the bed it is worth buying bet mats. Pampers have a very good design, it is very absorbent and unlike plastic sheets, it doesn't crinkle and the kids are not even aware of its presence.

Finally, how much do you need? You can certainly get by with two sets, this allows for one to be in the wash or drying. If you are choosing two different designs then it is a good idea to keep them similar so you can mix and match pillow and duvet covers if you need to.

Homemade Router Tables Design Tips

A router table is only as good as the bits that you use. The router table doesn't really do anything, it's the bit itself which will be cutting into your wood and creating some of the most beautiful designs which we have come to love. Router tables are very important tools which will be found in anybody's woodworking studio. Not only this, but they are quickly becoming popular for people to have in their own garage. Many people are interested to add this decoration to their own homes, and so are investing in the routers to enable them to do this.

But It Looks So Difficult!

You might think that it is very difficult to use a router to create beautiful designs, however it's not that bad. Router saws do all of the hard work for you. All you need to do is pass the piece of wood through the saw. Almost everyone can do that, and so it should be very easy!

If you don't know what to do then you can find router table plans on the internet. These enable you to create your own bits. Homemade router tables are just as good as shop brought ones. You can find these router plans for free if you search for long enough.

Bits are what make the beautiful designs possible. All of the designs you want to create are dictated by the bit itself. You can get many different types of bits which make different designs. There are edging bits which create beveling, and even straight bits which cut straight notches. You can also find dovetail bits which are very useful to create high quality draws. Other bits can be used for a number of different purposes.

You can find specialty router bits which can be used for many different projects. For example the caps on fence posts are made by using a stile bit. You can get very specialist bits which can make many more cuts in each pass. You can even get miniature bits to create beautiful dolls houses.

The Tops in Router Tables

Router table saws are about the same size as a normal table saw, and so you won't need that much space. However if you don't have much space available then you can consider one of the many bench top models which are available. It is important to align the height of your bench, if this is not correct then it is possible to use adjusters to change this.

What Your Router Table Plans Will Include

These router table plans should show you what the bit will produce when cutting wood. Bear in mind that this cut it just what the basic cut will produce, with a bit of imagination and craft then you will be able to create some wonderful designs. It is possible to adjust the angle of the bit to create unique looks.

No matter what you are using the router to do, these tools are very quick and the best way of doing this job. Nothing can create as much detail as a router for your home improvement project.

Your living room is a space for gathering and entertaining therefore you want it to have a comfortable interior decorating theme. But what should you do when the space is really small? Fortunately, there are a lot of room design tricks you can use to make decorating a small living room easy!

First, you should pick an interior design theme which appeals to you but which will also add appeal to a tiny space. Having a good amount of clutter in the living room will make the place feel smaller so avoid decorating themes that clutter up the room.

Don't forget when you are decorating a small living room to research where you are placing the furniture. Even if some people reject the aspects of Feng Shui, the ideas behind it may still be used when placing the furniture in your living room. Unhindered access into a room is able to make it feel bigger, so put your furniture away from the doors. Moreover, if you do go with a larger piece of furniture, such as an entertainment, for example, it tends to help to veer guests attention to it therefore making the room seem larger into the bargain.

If you stick with an explicit design approach, then you can plan from the beginning on how to maximize the living rooms space. A sleek contemporary look can be best because this de-emphasizes clutter and is likely to emphasize space. Choosing a design style you really enjoy, however, is a good idea as this is going to be where you spend the majority of your time.

Small or medium sized furniture is your best bet when decorating a small living room. In place of having a large sofa, look at using a loveseat which will give the illusion of more space while still allowing guests to be comfortably seated. You ought to consider mixing some small pieces with some large items for added style, so combine your small sofa, use a large mirror or art piece- it might make the room feel sizeable in addition to adding character.

If you want to paint your living room, then the colors that you adopt will play an important role in making it feel larger. If you have always thought that you had to keep your smaller rooms white, then here is some terrific news for you. You are able to have color while still making the living room seem bigger by pairing colors that have the same intensity, or sticking to a monochromatic color scheme. So you should plan to pick all pale blue, or bright colors in orange, yellow and red. You will generally add interest and depth to a room if you paint the wall opposite the entrance an intense, deep hue. A gray-blue color is great for overall attractiveness and for also making the walls seem to recede, hence making the room feel more spacious. If gray isn't your favorite color, you could also try cool colors such as purples and blues to get the same effect.

Even if you have never tried to decorate before decorating a small living room might be easy. Making use of a little bit of elbow grease as well as unique creativity can help make even the smallest room appear like a decorator showplace.

Many homeowners today prefer hardwood or other type of solid surface flooring to wall to wall carpeting. The initial appeal is the beauty of wood floor but the easy upkeep of wood floors is also a big factor. Lightly sweeping and dusting. along with an occasional waxing is about all wood floors require.

In comparison to heavy vacuuming and the necessity of steam cleaning at least once a year. caring for wood floors seems to be a breeze. If you apply a protective coating of wax to a wood floor. the wood will be preserved and stay cleaner and in good repair longer. Floor wax gives wood floors a beautiful glow and it also protects and maintains other types of floors such as linoleum. This gives the flooring a beautiful appearance that makes the home more attractive. Applying wax consistently will also protect the flooring from water and moisture damage. It can minimize the appearance of scratches. grooves and ridges in the flooring and prevent further such damage. The appeal of a clean. shiny. freshly waxed floor cannot be denied. Wax works to protect hardwood and other floors by reducing the abrasion they are exposed to. Grit and grime slide over the surface of a waxed floor instead of being ground in.

Floor wax can be purchased in three varieties: water based. solvent based and polymer. Some people are concerned about health problems in dealing with floor wax because it contains chemicals; some floor waxes even contain formaldehyde. The companies that make floor wax are aware of these concerns and have now started to make products that do not contain harsh chemicals and are environmentally safe to use. These types of waxes are becoming more commonly available. No-wax floors have become popular. not only because of the concerns about chemicals and the environment. but also because many families with two working partners do not have the time for too many household chores. But even no wax floors need to be cleaned frequently and. if damage occurs to the surface. they may have to be waxed anyway to add the protection that has been removed.

Waxing a floor is good for protecting the surface and also looks beautiful. but since wax builds up over time. it does need to be removed once in a while by stripping the floor. Wax removers also contain chemicals so they need to be used with caution. and anyone who is using them should understand what chemicals they are dealing with and protect themselves accordingly. Masks against fumes and gloves to handle the liquids may be necessary if you are going to take on this chore.

Couch covers come in many different sizes and you want the right one, so take the time to measure. Once you take the measurements of your sectional sofas, you will be able to pick out the couch covers that will be the best fit.

Down Comforters - Complete Care Guide

Can you wash your down comforter in a washing machine at home? This is a common question. There are a couple issues when deciding how to wash a down comforter. First, will the cleaning method damage the down in some way, making it less effective? Second, will the cleaning make the cover less down proof.

Washing Down

The performance of the down inside a down comforter is actually enhanced by exposing it to water and heat. Periodic rinsing and drying makes it puff back up to its original fill power. So washing your down comforter actually revitalizes the down, bringing it back to its original fluffiness and insulation performance level.

However, strong detergents remove the oils inside down fibers cluster, making them dryer, weaker, less puffy, less breathable, and less capable of retaining warmth. As long as you wash infrequently with a mild detergent, the down and feathers inside your comforter will be fine. No problem.

Washing Fabric Covers

The covers that are used in down bedding are usually 100% cotton. Washing in a machine at home, or dry cleaning with a professional launderer, will not hurt the cotton, but it may make the fabric less down proof. Some down cover materials stay downproof after washing, and some do not. So check your comforter's care instructions to see what is recommended for you comforter.

If you mistakenly wash a comforter that is recommended for dry cleaning, all is not lost. Usually the material loses its downproofing ability incrementally after several washings.

The difference between fabrics that remain downproof after washing, and those that do not, is the weave. The best fabrics used in down bedding have a superior weave that is meant to last for a long time through many washings.

Washing and Drying

As already mentioned, if your down bedding is recommended for washing in a washing machine, you can do it at home if your machine is large enough. You need a large, front load washer; do not use a machine that has an agitator in the center because it will put unnecessary stress on your comforter during washing. If you need a larger machine, you can go to a Laundromat or a professional cleaner. Be sure to use mild detergent. The best cleaners are those especially made for washing down and feather products.

Drying large down bedding items takes a long time - usually 2-4 hours. Be sure to dry them completely to prevent mold / mildew growth. A good method is to dry in the dryer for 1 full cycle, then lay out in the hot sun for several hours, and finish drying with another 30 minutes to 1 hour in the dryer. This method gives the bedding a nice fresh smell.

Use a Duvet Cover

It's best to use a duvet cover over your down comforter, and wash it regularly. This will keep the down from collecting dust and body oils that are difficult to remove. Using a duvet cover, you may only need to wash your comforter every 2-3 years.

Sun Curing

Most of the down comforters in the world come from China and the accepted method of cleaning is to use a duvet cover and simply put the down comforter out in the sun for a few hours, every few months. This allows all the moisture in the down to completely evaporate and gives the comforter a nice fresh smell. It also prevents the growth of moisture and dust mites, which love warm, moist places to grow.

Storage

If you have a heavy down comforter, you may want to put it away in a closet during the summer months. Be sure to use a breathable storage bag like cotton or mesh to prevent moisture from being trapped inside the comforter. Fight the urge to wrap it in plastic to keep dust and critters out. Though it would help do that, it may also allow the growth of some unpleasant, too-small-to-be-seen things inside your comforter.

Don't store in an attic where a mouse or raccoon can get to it. Don't store in a crawl space which can drip with moisture on a rainy day. Find a cool dry place that's secure from critters that like to chew and nest.

Enjoy

Down comforters are one of the most luxurious bedding items that you can own. They are soft, cuddly, and fun to sleep with. The most important thing about owning one is to enjoy it. Because we are so fond of our nice things, it's easy to get a little strict about keeping a comforter clean. But remember, all things pass away. So if you make a mistake with your comforter, let it be on the side of enjoying it too much.

If you are planning to buy a duvet and duvet cover set, you have to know how to do it properly. After all, these are things that you will use when you are sleeping. And you want to be 100 % comfortable when you are in snooze land. There are several tips or choosing the right duvet cover set. Here are some useful tips.

Choose something that has a high thread count or TC. A high TC means softer duvet cover. A duvet cover set with a 300 TC is perfect. But if you still want something softer, you can still choose something with a higher TC.

Decide on the fabric. Duvet covers can be made of several types of fabric: cotton, velvet, faux, suede, silk, etc. Cotton is the best option if you want something soft and comfortable. But if you want something that will keep you really warm in winter, velvet is a good choice.

Select the right style, pattern, or color. This depends on your bedroom's existing theme. Choose something that will match or complement what you already have.

Size is also important. Choose a duvet cover set with the right size, depending on the down comforter or duvet that you will cover.

These are the things that you should consider when choosing a duvet cover set. What about the duvet filling? It is equally important to choose the right kind of filling which works best for you. Here is a list of the different types of duvet filling.

Down. This is the plumage that grows underneath a duck or a goose's outer feathers. It is very fluffy and soft. It protects the birds from the cold harsh weather in winter. Goose down is more expensive than duck down because goose is rarer, unlike duck which are readily available in different parts of Asia.

Down and Feather. A combination of down and feather is cheaper than pure down. Pure down makes you really warm in winter while down and feather mix is perfect for summer or not-so-cold months.

Wool. This is another type of duvet filling that is natural. A wool-filled duvet will keep you warm during cold months and cool during hot seasons. Most of the time, a heavy wool-filled duvet is warmer than a light duvet.

Synthetic. These are made of polyester fabric and they are probably the cheapest in the market. They are not as comfortable as other types of duvet filling because it will not mold round your body when you lie down on it. A more expensive type of synthetic filling is microfiber. It feels like a down duvet but the similarities end there.

Cotton. This is popular in warm countries where people do not need heavy comforters in cold season. The price is similar to that of wool-filled duvets.

You have to consider these things when choosing a duvet and duvet cover for your bed. It is important to choose the best one if you want to be comfortable while sleeping.
